It is an AD type chummy of 1929 with a coil engine & has been laid up for about 9 months while I worked on the body. It was running last year & has a newly rebuilt engine. I have checked all the usual things, timing is right, I have sparking at points and plugs. I have petrol, and have stripped the bronze Zenith carb and blown through all the jets, checked the float and needle valve. The car will start and run when given a push start, but if you switch off, it will not fire on the starter, even with a freshly charged battery. Could it be a problem with the tappets? The petrol is possibly slightly stale but my Cluley started first try after being left for a similar period. Beginning to think the thing is haunted.
